Diffusing your on camera flash can help keep your photographs from having that washed out look. This article will show you how to create one.
Steps
- 1Take a good look at the size of your pop up flash. How wide is it? Will the film canister actually fit on it.

- Take the film canister and hold it near the popped up flash. Does it look like it will work.

- 3Start cutting out a rectangular hole into the side of the canister.

- 4As you advance, check out your progress and see if the hole in the canister is large enough.

- 5If necessary, cut it from ‘stem to stern’. The cap on the end will help maintain its solidity.

- 6Finished.

Tips
- This was cut out for a Nikon D70, which is really too wide of a flash to be able to use this type effectively.
Things You’ll Need
- Translucent film canister
- Sharp cutting knife
